DCYF's investments are intended to be holistic, offering multiple means to enhance the leaning opportunities of San Francisco's children and youth while simultaneously working to create healthy family and community environments that enable and promote school success. The programs and initiatives DCYF funds in each focus area work sequentially to achieve developmentally meaningful outcomes, from birth through the transition to adulthood.
The guiding objective of our work with children from birth to age five is the belief that every San Francisco child should reach elementary school ready to learn. Read more
Building on the foundation for success developed during early childhood and the elementary and middle school years, our investments in youth ages 13 to 25 are meant to advance a vision where all San Francisco young adults are able to reach educational, career, and personal life goals. Read more
As part of San Francisco’s Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council, DCYF has helped develop a comprehensive, multi-agency plan that identifies the funding and strategies for providing an effective continuum of services for youth to help them avoid or permanently exit the juvenile/criminal justice systems.
