On October 11 representatives from DCYF's 300+ grantees attended the annual DCYF All Grantee meeting. Mayor Lee gave opening remarks, thanking the grantees for preparing youth and young adults for high school graduation, college and the workforce. Mayor Lee also noted the City's 1.91% Cost of Doing Business increase for all of the CBOs in the City, and touted the success of the Summer Jobs + program, which placed over 5,000 San Francisco youth in paid positions in the summer of 2012.
Bevan Dufty, the Mayor's Director of Housing Opportunity, Partnerships and Engagement (HOPE), spoke about his department's work with San Francisco's homeless population, and the need for more outreach to the City's African-American community by the private and public sector.
DCYF Director Maria Su introduced the new DCYF website, announced the upcoming Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Out of School Time and Youth Leadership, Empowerment, and Development strategy areas, and reported Diana Oliva-Aroche and Jasmine Dawson's transfer to the Mayor's Office. DCYF Deputy Director Max Rocha followed Director Su with a presentation on the RFP timeline. Laura Moye, DCYF's Director of Programs and Grants, explained how the Cost of Business increase will go into effect for DCYF's grantees, and she presented the results of DCYF's 2011-2012 program observation survey.
