Keeping Families at the Heart of San Francisco

Our Children Our Families (OCOF) Council of San Francisco supports the future of our city – the children, youth and their families – by aligning and supporting the systems of support they need to thrive, particularly those with the greatest need. OCOF consists of a 42-member council, co-led by San Francisco’s Mayor and the San Francisco Unified School District’s Superintendent. Our goal is to enable all children, youth and families in San Francisco to stay, thrive and contribute to the city’s vibrant future.

OuTCOMES

The inequities in our city prevent too many people from accessing and contributing to San Francisco’s cultural and economic vibrance. Those inequities disproportionately affect children, youth and families of color and in the LGBT community, starting from birth and continuing through childhood, education and workforce entry. After reviewing the status quo, shown here in benchmark data, we determined an ambitious goal that would close equity gaps in nineteen focus areas. The five-year citywide targets described in these pages are meant to interrupt long-term systems of inequity. Our goals are meant to be achieved in the next five years, and to begin the process of overcoming systematized inequity..

Data Dashboard

This dashboard presents data by various equity lenses that are reflected in our work as we focus on “communities with the greatest need.” The inequities in our city prevent too many people from accessing and contributing to San Francisco’s cultural and economic vibrance.  The five-year citywide targets included in these dashboard pages are meant to interrupt long-term systems of inequity and fragmentation. Goals will be revised on an as-needed basis. We seek to ensure that all children, youth, and families, especially those most in need, meet the following goals.
